Jill’s Story -Tech Savvy Angel
My nephew, Colin, was tragically removed from our world on January 20, 2006, in a car accident, about a mile and a half from his home. It was just one month shy of his 20th birthday, to be celebrated on February 22nd, otherwise known as the significant numbers “222”, that would surprisingly appear before my eyes on many occasions, but most frequently through my cell phone.
There are no contacts saved in my phone directory under this numeric sequence. A few hours before I received the horrific news of Colin; I called his cell phone around midnight and hardly allowed the phone to complete a full ring before I disconnected the call. I realized he was out with his friends and why would a 19 year old pick up his cell phone to “talk” to his aunt when our youth communicates through “texting.”
At that time I didn’t even know how to text, or if my phone had the capabilities. I figured I would just catch up with him over the weekend. Five hours later, after the phone call I disconnected, I received that dreadful news from my sister about Colin’s accident.
Months later, I decided that I better learn how to text, because I will never hear from my other nephew or nieces if I didn’t get on their communication wave. The number 222 started to become a magnified icon and stopping me in my tracks in the strangest places……primarily my cell phone! “222” would appear randomly as a contact person in my received text message trail. Again, there was no one saved in my phone as “222”.
Since 2006, I’ve had three cell phones. Each time I activate a new phone, sit and learn the new settings, technology, etc. that comes with the learning curve, “222” appears in my “text” inbox. It’s like a “WELCOME SIGN”, without the note.
In addition to the serendipity of this mysterious happening, “222” will vanish in a blink. In March 2008, I was at Disney World standing in line for Space Mountain, when my cell phone completely converted all the real contacts in my text message inbox to a trail of “222’s”. These signs jolted me more than the ride itself. Everyone’s names were gone, and “222” aligned my phone.
I sent a text to my sister, Colin’s mom, to learn that Space Mountain was his favorite ride! Whether this is coincidental or not; it brought great comfort that he was with me on that entire Florida trip because the “222’s” stayed in my phone until I landed back in Chicago a
week later, and then poof, like magic, the numbers slowly vanished out of my phone replaced by real contact names.
“222” shows up randomly in my phone for no apparent reason to this day. The most recent on
October 11, 2011, being the 23rd anniversary of my oldest sister, Judi’s passing. Ironically, at 7:05pm (the time of Judi’s passing), “222” popped into my phone.
I had just upgraded my phone to a smart phone, so once again I was getting
acclimated to the functions of the new phone, and out of nowhere “222” popped in to say “HELLO”.
Some may think this is crazy or unreal but I take it as a sign of comfort that Colin is communicating with me through my phone, possibly because we didn’t connect on January 19, 2006, through a phone call or texting. Colin, must still be connected to the waves in his cell phone because it was never found after the accident.
All we can do is accept and receive the messages that arrive from beyond. We need to have an open heart to receive these powerful signs, find peace and comfort knowing our angels are in a higher place and they are still with us in spirit no matter how much we miss them and suffer their physical loss. “222” will always be a bonus reminder of Colin and I welcome all the signs and messages he cares to share.
